Geography

Geographical position

Weiterode is situated in northeast Hesse in the county of Hersfeld-Rotenburg and is a district of Bebra. More precisely Weiterode is located at the west end of the Ulfe valley, where the Richelsdorfer Mountains (in the north) and the “Seulingswald” (in the south) withdraw and the Ulfe valley leads into the Fulda meadow near Bebra. For about 100 years the village is surrounded by railroad tracks, which form a triangle (Schienendreieck). However Weiterode does not have a train station. For several hundred years Weiterode was a crossing point of old trading routes and customs facilities.
